About the Artist

Born in Accra and raised in South London, Kwame draws on both heritages to produce paintings of extraordinary vitality. He works on primed canvas directly on the floor, pouring and scraping layers of pigment to build surfaces that reward prolonged looking. His practice is instinctive and fast-moving, a single large painting may be completed in a single day, or reworked across many months. Kwame has exhibited at Tate Modern's Members Room, South London Gallery, and internationally in Accra and New York. His prints are produced as limited editions in collaboration with a specialist London studio.
