Cleo discovered encaustic painting during a residency in Massachusetts and has worked exclusively in the medium for over a decade. Hot wax is a demanding material: it requires speed and decisiveness, and every decision is permanent once the surface cools. She exploits this quality, building translucent layers that hold the light differently depending on time of day and viewing angle. Her palette is deliberately restrained, whites, creams, pale greys, occasional deep earth tones, and her compositions tend toward the geometric and the minimal. Cleo exhibits with several fine art galleries across the UK and has work in private collections in Europe and North America.
